Over the years the club has been well represented by members in The Open Championship, Scottish and British Amateur Championships.
Alex Mitchell was a member of Falkirk Golf Club for a great number of years and was Captain in 1938. He was also the Club champion in 1940-1943. He was a local business man and during the 2nd world war he gave up much of his free time to attend at the course in the evenings, take out the machinery and cut the fairways and greens, thereby assisting our hard worked green keeper. E C Gibson is the only other person to have won the championship 4 years in a row from 1970-1973.
The achievements of the Gents Section are too numerous to list in full. Some of the highlights are:
In 1983 C. H. Gillies became the Scottish Boys Champion at Dunbar Golf Club. He later turned professional and has had a successful career. In 1995 he became Scottish Professional Champion at Dalmahoy Golf Club, and in 1998 repeated the feat at Newmachur Golf Club.
Colin went on to top the Tartan Tour order of merit on several occasions. On two occasions he played in all four rounds of The Open Championship, once at Royal Troon and the other at Turnberry. One other of our past Junior and Senior Champions, S. Russell, is Head Professional at East Renfrewshire Golf Club.
The Ladies section of the club is very active and has a very good record having won county ladies team championships. During the season 2003 they won the MAIL ON SUNDAY tournament and represented Scotland in the national golf club classics in Spain. Both Miss M Myles and Miss H Glennie represented Scotland at international level during the 1950s and 60s. Miss Louise MacGregor, has won several open tournaments, represented the club in team matches and won 6 County Junior titles. She has also played in 5 ladies club finals, lost in 3, and beat Miss Tough in the 2008 and 2009 finals. In September 2008 she was a member of the Scottish Schoolgirls Team v England.
