18th June 2010 - Carmuirs Junior Stuart Murray tonight finished as runner-up in the County Junior Strokeplay Championship. Stuart was behind in the early part of the match until he fought back to gain a one up lead at the eleventh. Unfortunately his opponent, Alastair Nibloe of Grangemouth, turned this around after Stuart found trouble at the 12th. Stuart battled on keeping the match alive, even when two down with two to play. Chipping in at the 17th to bring himself back to one down the match went to the 18th where a halved hole meant victory for the Grangemouth player. A great support from Falkirk travelled up to Callander to support Stuart and he was warmly congratulated by all on his great golf in the match.

Stuart Murray makes it to County Strokeplay Final

Stuart Murray
17th June 2010 - Carmuirs Junior Stuart Murray qualified in emphatic style last night for the County Junior Strokeplay Championship Final. His 6 & 5 win sets him up for Friday Night's final at Callendar Golf Club. Our other Junior in the semis, Stuart Irving, unfortunately lost his match on the last hole but did the club and himself proud and should be really pleased of his achievement. The final is teeing off at 5pm on Friday, so why not take the short trip up to Callendar and give Stuart your support?

Junior Season Starts in Fine Style

Standing room only in the club-house for the prize-giving
5th April 2010 - The Junior Season got off to a brilliant start yesterday with the curtain-raising Junior Captain versus Vice Captain Match taking place.

The match itself was drawn after every player teed off from the elevated white tee at the first, a daunting shot for the first time for some of the younger Juniors.

Following on from this match the Winter Prize-giving took place in a packed club-house where there was standing room only for the late arrivals.

Every Junior attending received at least one prize, with top prize-winners Craig Bryson and Ryan Ledwidge lifting the Overall Order of Merit Title and Winter Knockout Championship respectively.

The day ended with a well attended disco in which Ross Spence proved himself to be a superb dancer, as well as a superb golfer!

Big Course Programme
27th March 2010 - A really exciting and full programme of activities for our brilliant Junior Section has been announced to keep the kids busy over the Easter School Holidays.

Two days stand out as being extra special - Easter Sunday sees a full day of activities culminating in the Winter Season Prize-giving which we hope will fill the clubhouse, and Sunday 18th April sees 12 lucky Juniors go to play at Gleneagles where they will also receive coaching and be able to sample the delights of Gleneagles catering!

The Junior Section is proving so popular that we may soon have to consider putting in place a waiting list for membership - so if you know of any kids who'd like to join best to tell them to get in now as it is highly unlikely that there will be free spaces come the summer. If you'd like further details send an e-mail to our Junior Convenor Allan Bryson who'll be only too happy to tell you what is on offer.

The final day also saw a record number of Junior players (37) which must bode well for a fantastic summer and the long term health of Falkirk Golf Club. Congratulations to all the winners and all of the participants for making this a really exciting winter season!
